6 easy steps to better dental health

1 Brush (at least) twice a day.
Brushing with fluoride toothpaste washes away food particles while strengthening tooth enamel. If you can manage it, brushing after every meal is even better.

2 If you're unable to brush after meals, drink water.
Water removes food from tooth surfaces and between the teeth. It also dilutes damaging acids found in soft drinks and snacks.

3 Go easy on the sweets.
Sugar-heavy snacks create an all-you-can-eat buffet for bacteria in your mouth, and the sticky snacks are hard to remove even after diligent brushing. Eat sweets sparingly.

4 Floss daily.
Floss reaches areas in your mouth that your toothbrush cannot, and flossing each day is critical to keeping gums healthy (and breath tolerable). Don't skip this step — it's every bit as important as brushing!

5 Get professional cleanings every six months.
Periodic deep cleanings maximize the effectiveness of your daily brushing and flossing. Dental professionals also have an eye for detecting potential issues while they're still easily treatable.

6 Smile! Your dental future looks great.
By eating smart, seeing your dentist regularly and brushing and flossing daily, you can enjoy a lifetime of virtually problem-free teeth and gums.
